Sekoia says Russia's APT29 hijacked websites and a Ukrainian analytics service to target unpatched phones
French security company Sekoia said on November 4, 2026, that APT29, a hacking group widely attributed to Russia's foreign intelligence service, ran a campaign that tried to break into unpatched iPhones and Android phones whose owners visited compromised or fake websites. For one week from August 27, the attackers also tampered with a tracking script from Plerdy, a Ukrainian analytics service loaded by thousands of websites. Every flaw the attackers used had already been fixed, and Sekoia said fully updated devices are safe.
